FAQ
Q: How much insurance do I need?
A: Insurance is meant to indemnify you in the event of a loss (make you whole financially). When considering what it would cost to replace all the property you own, this is the amount of coverage you should purchase. Auto insurance is based on an "Actual Cash Value" for both commercial and personal lines. Antique vehicles can be insured for a stated amount which would require an annual appraisal.
Q: Why did I get cancelled? I didn?t get a bill
A: Contact your Account Manager/Representative and confirm that we have your correct contact information on file. Your payments can be made annually, monthly and quarterly. Many of our clients choose Electronic Transfer of Funds (ETF) for their premium payments. You can also visit the Pay Online page of our web site.
Q: What exactly am I covered for?
A: Contact your Account Manager/Representative to review your coverage. Each of our carriers offer different programs designed to meet your personal lifestyle and needs.
Q: I have been paying insurance for years, what do you mean "I am not covered for this loss"
A: We need accurate information at the time of application. Reviewing coverages annually is also recommended since lifestyles may change significantly from year to year. It is important to review the exclusions and conditions of your policy with your Account Manager/Representative. In many situations, exclusions can be purchased by an endorsement to your policy. Some exclusions can never be purchased.
Q: Should I purchase jewelry coverage?
A: Each property policy has a very small limit for jewelry. Mysterious disappearance and theft are not covered if the jewelry is not scheduled. You need a current jewelry appraisal within 3yrs to schedule your jewelry. After that we recommend that you have your jewelry reappraised every 3 years, since jewelry does increase in value overtime. We can also schedule golf clubs, furs, fine arts, camera equipment, and miscellaneous items. Speak to your Account Manager/Representative for further details.
Q: What should I do if I am purchasing a new vehicle?
A: Contact your Account Manager/Representative and authorize the change. We will not change anything on your policy without your consent.
Q: What should we do if we are adding an addition, or making major improvements to our property?
A: Contact your Account Manager/Representative to discuss coverage requirements and options.
Q: What if I purchase a new puppy?
A: Many carriers now have excluded dog lists. It is recommend that you inquire as to which dogs are excluded prior to acquiring your new pet.
Q: How much Umbrella Coverage should I purchase and how does it cover me?
A: Umbrella is liability coverage that is in excess of your current property, auto, and marine coverage. The limit you purchase depends on you. Carefully consider your net worth when purchasing umbrella coverage. We live in a very litigious society. In the event of a law suit, a lawyer may place a lien on every asset you own. Should you be negligent you would want to be in a position to cover your assets. For this reason, it is very important to consider umbrella coverage. In considering the limit, here are a few suggestions: potential future earnings, value of 401k or other retirement fund, value of real property, value of other investments. Feel free to contact your Account Manager/Representative for further information.
